SC-VoLTE M2 – 4G VoLTE Alarm Communicator & PSTN Simulator

Key Functional Capabilities & System Specs

  • Dual Operational Modes: Standalone Mode (Contact ID decoding and SMS/voice reporting) or Transparent Mode (direct PSTN-to-VoLTE voice gateway).
  • Cellular Infrastructure: Operation over 4G VoLTE network standards.
  • Contact ID Decoding Table: Integrated filter matching up to 64 specific Contact ID codes to generate customized user notifications.
  • Hardware Inputs: 2 dry contact inputs (NO/NC selectable), triggered by low-level (DC ground) signals.
  • Destination Management: Up to 4 programmable notification phone numbers with DTMF call confirmation support.
  • Configurable Timing Parameters: Adjustable ring time, call duration, total cycle timeout, and daily notification counters for calls and SMS.
  • PC Diagnostics & Event Logging: Real-time status monitoring and configuration via USB interface and PC software.
  • Hardware Revisions (vs. Previous Generation): Expanded event table capacity (64 vs. 32 rules), customizable system timers, enlarged diagnostic log, removal of incoming ring generation, and elimination of external USB flash memory.

Operating Principles

1. Standalone Mode

In Standalone Mode, the device functions as a local Contact ID receiver connected to the PSTN communicator output (TIP/RING) of an alarm panel:

  • When the alarm panel initiates a call and sends Contact ID data, the module establishes handshaking, receives the data frame, and acknowledges transmission.
  • The incoming payload (Event Code, Partition Number, Zone/User ID) is checked against the internal 64-entry rule table.
  • Upon a valid code match, the system dispatches user-defined text messages or places voice calls emitting an audible siren tone to up to 4 registered phone numbers.
  • DTMF Acknowledgment: When enabled, the unit repeats voice calls until a recipient answers and inputs any DTMF key (0–9) on their telephone keypad to confirm signal receipt.

2. Transparent Mode

In Transparent Mode, the module acts as a voice-channel PSTN line simulator:

  • It routes analog audio, DTMF signaling, and siren tones directly from alarm control panels or third-party voice devices across the 4G VoLTE cellular network.
  • Suitable for standalone voice dialers, elevator emergency intercoms, SOS help points, and off-grid locations lacking fixed landline infrastructure.

Note: In Transparent Mode, the communicator does not process incoming phone calls and cannot supply ring voltage to connected telephone equipment.

Control Panel Setup Requirements

To establish communication with the SC-VoLTE M2 in Standalone Mode, configure the alarm control panel with the following parameters:

  1. PSTN Line Communication: Enabled
  2. Dialing Method: Tone (DTMF) dialing
  3. Telephone Number Field: Any dummy number of at least 4 digits (e.g., 1111)
  4. Account Number: Valid 4-digit subscriber account code
  5. Reporting Protocol: Full Contact ID format

Hardware Connections & Status LEDs

  • TIP / RING Terminals: PSTN line input connection for alarm panel dialer output.
  • +12V / COM Terminals: 9–30 V DC power input connection.
  • IN1 / IN2 Terminals: Digital contact inputs for auxiliary alarm monitoring.
  • SIM Card Slot: Holder for Mini-SIM (2FF) card.
  • Mini-B USB Port: Connection for PC configuration utility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the SC-VoLTE M2 ring an attached landline phone when receiving an incoming call?

No. The device is purely an outbound transmission gateway; it does not process incoming PSTN calls or supply ring voltage to connected analog telephone sets.

What SIM card format is required, and how is the PIN managed?

The hardware uses a 2FF Mini-SIM. If PIN protection is enabled on the SIM card, the correct PIN code must be entered via the PC configuration software settings.

How does event filtering function in Standalone Mode?

The module receives the raw Contact ID packet from the alarm panel, parses the event code, partition, and zone data, and matches it against an internal table of up to 64 pre-configured event rules to generate corresponding SMS or voice notifications.

How does DTMF acknowledgment operate during alarm calls?

When a voice alert is triggered, the module dials the target recipient and plays a tone. The recipient acknowledges receipt by pressing any numeric key (0–9) during the call, instructing the module to terminate further dialing cycles for that specific alarm event.

Can contact inputs IN1 and IN2 be used without an alarm control panel?

Yes. The two physical inputs operate independently as standard NO/NC contact inputs with adjustable delay filtering. Triggering an input to DC ground initiates direct SMS notifications or voice calls to target numbers.

How are device settings configured and saved?

Settings are programmed using dedicated PC configuration software over a Mini-USB cable connection. All updated parameters must be written directly to the module’s non-volatile memory to take effect.
